Sobrato Transitional Center

Sobrato House

Location: 9389 Monterey Road, Gilroy
Units: 75 emergency single-adult beds, 25 transitional single-adult beds, 40 family beds
Estimated Completion: To be determined

The Sobrato Transitional Center will fill an identified gap in Santa Clara County by offering both short- and long-term housing and services to an under-served, largely rural, limited English-speaking homeless population in South County. This housing option will focus community resources on meeting basic needs of families and individuals living on the streets, and it will offer a powerful route to self-sufficiency that is unduplicated in the Gilroy community. The Center will offer 24-hour housing and supportive services to homeless families with children and to single individuals who are coming directly from the streets or from other emergency shelter programs.

The Sobrato Transitional Center will be a single story, 25,000 square foot building. The Center will provide office space, an indoor reception area, separate outdoor space for families and single adults, bathrooms, laundry facilities, ample program space and separate sleeping areas for men, women and families.
