The NBC11 Festival for Independence is a celebration
of the diverse cultures that make up San Jose's America through
music, entertainment, and activities. Produced as a benefit
for the EHC
LifeBuilders, this FREE event traditionally raises funds
to support the agency's programs for housing the homeless
and building more independent lives. Sponsors
are a key element in keeping this event successful. Please
visit our sponsors page to recognize
their generous support.
The NBC11 Festival for Independence benefiting
EHC LifeBuilders takes place every year for the 4th of July
holiday in Downtown San Jose. The City of San Jose's official
fireworks show, sponsored by NBC11,
attracts 45,000 attendees in the park, and as many as 200,000
other people can see the fireworks from spots throughout the
greater Downtown area. In addition, hundreds of thousands
more watch the fireworks on the live television simulcast.
The festival takes place only in Discovery Meadow, from noon-10pm
on July 4th. The festival site is always at Guadalupe River
Park's Discovery Meadow, easily the area's favorite large-scale
outdoor event venue, which is accessible via public transportation,
Highways 280, 680, 101 and 87, or CalTrain.
