Help Preserve Emergency Shelter Locally

Shelter beds

You may have heard recently that EHC LifeBuilders was going to have to reduce emergency shelter beds at its San Jose shelter by half, from 250 to 125, due to a gap in government funding borne out of the economic downturn. Since we announced the reduction two weeks ago, the community response has been incredible. Two high technology couples, Joe and Michele Costello and Lata Krishnan and Ajay Shah, have stepped forward each with $100K donations to provide initial funding to immediately restore the beds to full capacity.

They provided these gifts with the hope it will prompt other members of the community to step forward and preserve EHC’s life saving services in a time of critical need. The agency will also launch a Cold Weather Shelter Reserve Fund to raise money to cover future gaps in government funding so it can continue to operate its shelter and supportive services for years to come. To respond to the call to action, donate online, send checks to EHC LifeBuilders, 507 Valley Way, Milpitas, CA 95035, or contact Ray Bramson at (408) 539-2103 or rbramson@ehclifebuilders.org.
