Grants Officer
Position: Grants Officer
Location: Admin Office
Supervisor: Grants Manager
Summary: This position is an integral part of the
operations team. The primary responsibility of this position is to
research and identify viable grant opportunities for the organization
as well as prepare and submit grant applications, letters of inquiry
and formal proposals.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Write proposals to request financial support from foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
- Revise/edit proposals and final grant reports using information obtained from the Director and program staff, and help submit proposals within deadlines.
- Identify, research, and help evaluate possibilities for new and increased funding using online resources and other methods.
- Prepare and give presentations related to funding proposals or as assigned.
- Provide assistance in the area of homeless advocacy.
- Maintain and manage relationships between the Agency and the community, particularly with regard to foundation, corporation and government funding partners.
- Represent the Agency in community fundraising/resource development events.
- Create materials relevant to the fundraising activities under her/his charge.
- Participates in relevant workshops and meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of fundraising basics
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Good collaboration skills and the initiative and ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Ability to work with people of diverse social backgrounds and professional rank
- Understanding of and concern for the issue of homelessness
- Computer literate, preferably with PC systems, using Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to understand and use Raiser’s Edge fundraising software
- BA degree or equivalent experience
